For me, the excitement in life comes from the unexpected things you stumble upon without trying. The hidden treasures you don’t immediately spot.
About
Aaron Auguste Thomason is a self-taught artist from Hove, East Sussex.
“I seek beauty in everything—whether it’s a stunning sunset or an old, decaying building. For me, true beauty lies in the unexpected.”
Much of his inspiration comes from walking around Brighton and Hove, where he draws from the diverse coastal landscapes—from cliffs and rock pools to the rolling Sussex hills and the vibrant, cultural city.
Cracks, crooked lines, sweeping coastlines, undulating hills, and man-made skylines offer glimpses into a world where the real and abstract converge, blurring the lines between them.
Thomason uses a variety of tools to build up layers of paint and texture, scratching and smudging the surface to introduce depth and complexity to his work.
His art has been collected globally, from his hometown to the United States, Europe, South America, and beyond.
As a resident artist at the Liberation Art Gallery in Brighton, he regularly exhibits across the UK. His work has also been featured at the Artist Open Houses and the Do Not Obstruct Gallery in Brighton. He placed second in the Art Battle hosted at the i360.
Last year, he embarked on a transformative artistic journey to South America, funded by the Arts Council of Great Britain. There, he explored environmentally friendly methods of creating art using natural pigments and clays
Aaron is available for commissions one offs and is open to any idea you may have.
