Soft transition

2023

So that was quite the year!

On a personal level the year started off much like any other year.

I haven’t the best memory so I don’t remember much about the start of 2023 other than the Sussex art fair in May which was great!

Then seemingly out of the blue in July I separated with my partner of 22 years  and mother of our son.

This was a big shock to the system but we agreed amicably and everything went relatively smoothly.

I moved out and all of us including our son are now very happy.

It’s not to say it’s perfect but I do believe that relationships don’t have to end badly. Unfortunately a lot of the time we let our ego take control of things, which leads to all manner of unpleasant ness.

Let things flow and realise sometimes things are not meant to be. Try to tune into this and question whether something is enhancing your life or not

If not maybe it’s time to change things…

Especially when there are children involved it’s so important for them not to experience all that negative bs

That being said, it took a while to get back into painting but I did and am feeling really creative

And since it happened a new world of possibilities have opened up for me and my art in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

In November I exhibited at Art Fair East in Norwich and had a great time.

It’s a beautiful city with lots of artists and artworks to look at. I was lucky enough to sell many paintings which is a big part of why we do these fairs. Other than that it’s just nice to meet other artists and hang out and talk art or whatever.

It was a busy time and as I was preparing for art fair east the Liberation gallery in Brighton got in touch to say that they would like to show my art in their up coming exhibition “from within” with the private view being the following weekend after the fair.

So this all tested my organisation skills to the maximum!

The main concern being which artworks I would take and which ones would go to the gallery. Luckily enough everything synced up and it all worked out very nicely indeed.

I now have three pieces of art on the wall of the liberation art gallery for the next two months.

The gallery has a warm family vibe to it, I immediately felt welcomed into that and have been volunteering there from time to time…

All this has really inspired me to push my art further and challenge myself.

I have been exploring new ways to paint, thinking about concepts and ideas around spirituality and wot not which is something I’ve been learning more about recently. (More on that later)

I have lots of ideas progressing in my head and I can’t wait to get started on these as soon as I can.

If you’re in the area I will be volunteering at the liberation art gallery on Thursday mornings. Feel free to pop in and say hi!

All the love

Hi. I’m Aaron. A self taught artist living in Hove, East Sussex.

I’m Always looking for the beauty in everything. Whether it’s the perfect sunset or a decaying building. It can be found everywhere!

For me the excitement in life comes from the unexpected things you stumble on without trying, the hidden treasures you don’t immediately spot.

Crackles, crooked lines, sweeping coastlines, undulating hills and distorted skylines offer a glimpse into another world, somewhere familiar but new

I love texture and enjoy applying it in layers to the painting surface using a variety of tools. Palette knives, spatulas, brushes and fingers all come into play

at some point.
